IVCCD Board Report – September 9 Meeting

MARSHALLTOWN – The Iowa Valley Community College District Board of Directors learned about the district-wide effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19 on our campuses. Student health and safety protocols are in place, and students are receiving regular reminders to use face coverings and wash hands. Sanitization stations are located throughout campus, including in each classroom. The class structure has been set up to reduce the density in classrooms and campus spaces and students on each campus are adhering to social distancing and face coverings protocols. Housing and dining have been set up to reduce density as well.

Both Marshalltown and Ellsworth campuses have designated spaces for students who test positive (isolation rooms) or who had close contact with some who tested positive (quarantine rooms) for students who live on campus. The student will have meals delivered and mental health check-ins.

Housing move-in times were staggered to allow for social distancing. If a student tests positive or comes into contact with someone who has tested positive, there is an online self-identification form for them to fill out. The District will maintain a dashboard of positive cases on the website, found here:

The Board is scheduled to next meet on October 14 in person or via Zoom. The meeting is scheduled for 4:00.
