Accreditation

Iowa Valley Community College District is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (230 South LaSalle Street, Suite 7-500, Chicago, IL 60604; 800-621-7440; hlcommission.org), an institutional accreditation agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. IVCCD participates in the Open Pathway for reaffirmation of accreditation and is approved by the Iowa Department of Education. IVCCD is also approved by the Iowa Department of Education.

  • Higher Learning Commission – Prior to 1996, Ellsworth Community College and Marshalltown Community College were accredited as separate colleges. In July 1996, the HLC accreditation processes were merged and accreditation was granted to the District. The next HLC reaffirmation of accreditation for IVCCD is scheduled for 2034-2035 academic year.
  • Iowa Department of Education – IVCCD is accredited by the Iowa Department of Education (IDOE) and successfully completed the interim review process during the 2023-24 academic year. A comprehensive accreditation visit will be conducted in fiscal year 2029.
