IVCCD Board Report – May 2025
During its recent meeting, the Iowa Valley Community College District (IVCCD) Board of Directors approved bids for construction projects at the Grinnell and Ellsworth campuses, along with several agreements and the FY26 tuition rate.
The Board approved a bid of $1,112,000 from Hildreth Construction Services of Cumming, Iowa for the Iowa Valley Grinnell Auto Tech project. Bids were previously opened on May 1. The project will be funded through an Iowa Career Academy Incentive Fund grant and institutional funds.
A bid of $161,500 from D.W. Zinser Company of Walford was approved for the Ellsworth Community College Wall Hall demolition. Bids for this project were opened on May 8. The project is expected to begin this month, with substantial completion projected for late August.
The Board also approved a $39,000 agreement with Shive-Hattery for roof replacement design, bidding, and construction services for the Ellsworth Community College’s Math and Sciences Building roof. Construction is slated to begin in July.
The Ellsworth campus will also see an update with new exterior signage. The Board approved a $69,665 contract with Latitude Signage + Design for the purchase and installation of updated exterior signage.
An Iowa Jobs Training Agreement (260F) with Burchland Manufacturing in Gilman, Iowa, was approved for $10,150. This marks the first agreement with the rural Marshall County manufacturer, which plans to use the funding for employee safety training, including forklift operation and OSHA10 certification.
The Board approved the Dining Service Agreement between Great Western Dining Service, Inc., Ellsworth Community College, and Marshalltown Community College. The agreements include a 3% increase in ECC’s Meal Plan Rates and 2.5% for MCC’s Meal Plan Rates for the upcoming year.
The Board also approved meal, housing, and tuition rates for students. Tuition for the academic year will be $210 per credit hour for residents.
A new 2025-2030 Master Agreement between the Board and the Iowa Valley Community College Education Association/ISEA was approved, including a 3.1% increase. The same increase was approved for all regular full-time and part-time benefit-eligible non-faculty employees for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for 4 p.m. on June 11, 2025, in Marshalltown, and will be accessible via Zoom. The community is welcome to attend.
