Iowa Valley Community College District Partners with Toys for Tots

MARSHALLTOWN – The Iowa Valley Community College District (IVCCD) is excited to announce its partnership with Toys for Tots for the holiday season. The district will be accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys for children in need October 1 through December 10.

Donations can be dropped off at the following locations during campus business hours:

  • Ellsworth Community College: The Hub, Gentle Student Center, and Hamilton Campus
  • Iowa Valley Grinnell: 123 6th Ave. West, Grinnell, IA
  • Marshalltown Community College: 400 Hallway outside of the library and admissions (inside door #1)

This is the second year that the Iowa Valley Grinnell campus has served as a drop-off location, and organizers are hoping to build on the success of last year’s campaign. Spearheading the local Toys for Tots efforts at each location is the Phi Theta Kappa organization, along with Gunsmith faculty member and Marine Corps veteran Matt Ostrander.

“Having been involved with Toys for Tots during my active-duty service, I understand the profound impact it has on children and families,” shared Ostrander, who served from 2002 to 2014, retiring as a Captain. “I’m excited to volunteer my time and encourage others to help bring a smile to a child’s face this Christmas.”

Toys for Tots is a national charitable program run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve that started in 1947. The program collects and distributes new, unwrapped toys to children in need, bringing them happiness and hope during the holiday season.
