Board of Directors – Nominations Due September 21, 2023
Nomination papers for candidates for the Iowa Valley Community College District Merged Area VI Board of Directors are now available and may be filed with Amber Bolen, Secretary of the Board, any time between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. beginning Monday, August 28, 2023 through Thursday, September 21, 2023, no later than 5 p.m.
The Board of Directors is responsible for the operation of Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, Iowa Valley Grinnell, Marshalltown Community College, and Iowa Valley Business and Community Solutions within Iowa Valley Community College District (Merged Area VI).
Six positions on the IVCCD Board of Directors will be filled at the combined City/School Election on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. Those directorships are:
- Director District #1: for four-year term
- Director District #2: for four-year term
- Director District #3: for two-year term
- Director District #4: for two-year term
- Director District #5: for four-year term
- Director District #7: for four-year term
Candidates for the Board of Directors must be residents of the district they propose to represent.
Director District # 1
All that portion of the Merged Area VI Community College District lying within AGWSR Community School District, the Alden Community School District, and the Iowa Falls Community School District, and the portion of the Aplington-Parkersburg Community School District and the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Community School District that lies within the boundary of Iowa Valley Community College District.
Director District # 2
All that portion of Merged Area VI Community College District lying within the BCLUW Community School District, the Eldora-New Providence Community School District, GMG Community School District, and the Hubbard-Radcliffe Community School District, and the portion part of the Colo-Nesco Community School District, Gladbrook-Reinbeck Community School District and Grundy Center Community School District lying within the boundary of Iowa Valley Community College District.
Director District # 3
All that portion of the Merged Area VI Community College District lying within the portion of Marshalltown Community School District in the 2nd and 3rd Wards in the City of Marshalltown
Director District # 4
All that portion of the Merged Area VI Community College District lying within the East Marshall Community School District and West Marshall Community School District and the portion of Marshalltown Community School District lying in the Bangor/Liscomb/Taylor, Eden/Logan/Washington, Green Castle/LeGrand, Jefferson/Timber Creek, Liberty/Marietta/Minerva precincts in Marshall County, the portion of Grinnell-Newburg CSD that lies in Jasper County, and the portion of the Lynnville-Sully CSD, that lies within the boundary of Iowa Valley Community College District.
Director District # 5
All that portion of the Merged Area VI Community College District lying within the portion of Marshalltown Community School District in the 1st and 4th Wards in the City of Marshalltown and Marion/Vienna precincts in Marshall County.
Director District # 7
All that portion of the Merged Area VI Community College District lying within the portion of Grinnell-Newburg Community School District that lies in Poweshiek County and that portion of the Montezuma Community School District that lies within the boundary of Iowa Valley Community College District.
Persons interested in candidacy for the directorships may obtain nomination papers from Board Secretary Amber Bolen at the administrative offices of IVCCD, 3702 South Center Street in Marshalltown, or from the Marshall County Auditor’s office in the courthouse. Fifty bonafide signatures of residents within the represented director district are necessary to place the names of the nominees on the ballot.
Newly-elected directors will be seated at the annual organizational meeting of the IVCCD Board of Directors in December.
