IVCCD Board Approves Babe Harder Gym Renovation
MARSHALLTOWN – The IVCCD Board of Directors approved plans to make updates to the Babe Harder gym on the Marshalltown Community College campus. The Babe Harder facility currently includes the gym, racquetball court, locker rooms, and offices along with three indoor batting cages and dual pitching mounds for the MCC baseball and softball teams.
The District plans to update locker rooms, refinish the wood floor, freshen up the walls with paint, install new lighting, update the power and data infrastructure, provide better access to the art room, and update the facilities for physical education activity courses. The Board set a bid date for March 2, and an approval date for March 8. The District is working with OPN Architects on design and budget.
Board Reviewed Certified Budget
Gena Garber, Vice President of Administration for the District, shared the certified budget for the 2024 fiscal year. The District proposed a levy rate of $1.74507 which is lower than the rate committed to during the GO Bond approval. The Board approved the filing of the certified budget and set the date for the public hearing as March 8, 2023.
Board Approved Annual Calendar
The Board approved the annual meeting calendar through the 2023-24 academic year during Wednesday’s meeting.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for March 8, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. and will be available via Zoom.
