IVCCD Board Report – July 2025
Iowa Valley Community College District Board Approves Technology Upgrades, Training Agreements, and Campus Renovations
The Iowa Valley Community College District (IVCCD) Board of Directors convened for its regular meeting in July, approving several key initiatives aimed at enhancing technology, workforce training, and campus infrastructure.
The Board invested in Zoom One as a new phone solution for the District, approving a $165,000 agreement with Iowa Communications Network (ICN) for the purchase of Zoom One for Education Enterprise Premier. The comprehensive communications platform will replace the District’s existing phone system, offering enhanced flexibility with the ability to make and receive calls from anywhere with various devices, SMS capabilities, and seamless integration with Zoom. This transition aligns IVCCD with more than half of Iowa’s community colleges already utilizing this service.
In workforce development, the Board approved a 12-month Emergency Services Training Agreement for FY26 with Jami Stupp and Corey Larson for $42,000. This agreement reflects a modest increase, the first since the program’s inception more than five years ago, recognizing the exemplary training provided. The program, offered as a non-credit program through Iowa Valley Business and Community Solutions (BCS), has also seen increased interest from the credit side for EMT training.
The Board held a public hearing and subsequently approved the Plans, Specifications, Form of Contract, and Estimated Cost for the IVCCD Ellsworth Math & Science Roof Project at 1100 College Avenue, Iowa Falls. This project addresses the long-standing need for a comprehensive roof replacement, moving beyond previous patch repairs. Bid opening is set for 2 p.m. on Aug. 5, 2025, at Ellsworth Community College, with bid approval at 4 p.m. on Aug. 13 at the IVCCD District Services Building in Marshalltown.
Further supporting local industry, the Board approved a 260F Iowa Jobs Training Agreement with MARSHALLTOWN for $27,853.00. This marks the second contract with the long-standing local manufacturer, which has recently expanded its facility and product line. The agreement will provide customized training in areas such as Power Industrial Truck and Mobile Elevated Work Aerial Lift operation, First Aid/CPR/AED, Safety, Customer Service, and Leadership, helping to upskill MARSHALLTOWN’s 208 employees and secure competitive state funding.
Additionally, the Board approved an Assignment and Assumption Agreement with Advanced Drainage Systems, Inc. This agreement transfers the obligations of the 260E Industrial New Jobs Training Program from River Valley Pipe LLC to Advanced Drainage Systems, Inc., following a business acquisition. River Valley Pipe was three years into its ten-year commitment when the transfer occurred.
Finally, the Board approved a shared agreement for a College and Career Readiness Counselor between Marshalltown Community College (MCC) and Marshalltown Community School District (MCSD). This agreement allocates the counselor’s time, salary, and benefits at a split of 80% MCSD and 20% MCC for one year, facilitating concurrent enrollment classes and workforce transitions for students. This builds upon existing successful partnerships for similar roles in other districts.
