IVCCD Board Report – March 8, 2023

The IVCCD Board of Directors approved the $1.282 million bid from Ball Team, LLC to make updates to the Babe Harder gym and locker room on the Marshalltown Community College campus. The Babe Harder facility currently includes the gym, racquetball court, locker rooms, and offices along with three indoor batting cages and dual pitching mounds for the MCC baseball and softball teams.

The project includes updating the locker rooms and laundry room, refinishing the gym’s wood floor and adding a removable field turf, freshening up the walls with paint, installing new lighting, updating the power and data infrastructure, providing better access to the art room, and updating the facilities for physical education activity courses. The District is working with OPN Architects on design and budget.

Board Approved Naming the Arena at the Ellsworth Community College Equestrian Center

The Board approved the proposal to name the arena at the Equestrian Center on the Hamilton Campus the C.T. Rierson Arena at the Ellsworth Community College Equestrian Center in recognition of a generous irrevocable trust to the Ellsworth Community College Foundation.

Board Approved Concurrent Enrollment Agreements

The Board approved concurrent enrollment agreements to provide summer courses in pre-healthcare. Students will be able to take classes in medical terminology, nutrition, human growth and development – courses that all serve as prerequisites for nursing. The classes will be offered at the following districts: AGWSR Community School District, BCLUW Community School District, BGM Community School District, East Marshall Community School District, GMG Community School District, Grinnell-Newburg Community School District, Iowa Falls Community School District, Marshalltown Community School District, Montezuma Community School District, South Hardin Community School District, South Tama Community School District, and West Marshall Community School District. There are 90 slots available for students, and about 35 are currently filled.
