IVCCD Board Report – October 12 Meeting

IVCCD Board Approved Substantial Completion of Bond Projects

MARSHALLTOWN – The IVCCD Board of Directors approved the substantial completion of two campus bond projects during the Board meeting on October 12, the Ellsworth Locker Rooms and Activity Center project and the Marshalltown Exterior Building Improvement project.  The bond measure voted on during the 2019 election, provided funds for renovations throughout the District, and included other projects such as state-of-the-art student housing (Ellsworth Community College); updated library facilities, a new Esports facility, computer labs, physics lab, exterior site improvements, and restrooms (Marshalltown Community College); updated conference and event facilities (Business and Community Solutions); and updated gunsmithing lab and exterior improvements (Iowa Valley Grinnell). The bond also provided funds for updated IT infrastructure for the District which improves both network security and connectivity. The District held open houses in September for the Marshalltown Interior Renovations project and Ellsworth Locker Rooms and Activity Center project which the public was invited to attend.

Board Approved New Jobs Training Certificates

The Board approved a resolution authorizing the issuance of $505,000 Industrial New Jobs Training Certificates. The issuance of these certificates provides financial support for training new employees at Bruin Manufacturing, Colewell Automation, River Valley Pipe and AUR Iowa Farm LLC. Overall, they are projecting to add at least 47 new positions within the next two years. IVCCD will work with the companies to officially carry out the projects when the funds become available in November.

In addition, the Board approved a 260F agreement between Iowa Valley and D & B Agro Systems, Ltd. for $20,000 to provide safety training for all employees. The Board also approved a 260F agreement with Colewell Automation to provide training to current employees on software and robotics.

The next regular board meeting is scheduled for November 9, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. and will be held via Zoom.
