IVCCD Seeks Candidates for Board of Directors Positions
Nomination papers for candidates for the Iowa Valley Community College District Merged Area VI Board of Directors are now available and may be filed with Barbara Jennings, Secretary of the Board, any time between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. beginning Monday, August 23, 2021 through Thursday, September 16, 2021, no later than 5 p.m.
The Board of Directors is responsible for the operation of Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, Iowa Valley Grinnell, Marshalltown Community College and Iowa Valley Continuing Education within Iowa Valley Community College District (Merged Area VI).
Three positions on the IVCCD Board of Directors will be filled at the combined City/School Election on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, for four-year terms. Those directorships, in District III, District IV, and District VI, are currently held by Delbert Kellogg of Marshalltown, Deborah Jones of Clemons, and Joanna Hofer of Toledo, respectively.
Candidates for the Board of Directors must be residents of the district they propose to represent.
Director District # 3
All that portion of the Merged Area VI Community College District lying within the East Marshall Community School District, that portion of Grinnell-Newburg CSD lying within the Hickory Grove precinct in Jasper County and that portion of the Marshalltown Community School District lying within the Third Ward in the City of Marshalltown, Eden/Logan, Jefferson and Timber Creek precincts in Marshall County.
Director District # 4
All that portion of the Merged Area VI Community College District lying within the portion of Marshalltown Community School District in the Second Ward in the City of Marshalltown and Bangor/Liscomb; Marietta/Washington and Taylor precincts in Marshall County and the West Marshall Community School District.
Director District # 6
All that portion of the Merged Area Community College District lying within the Brooklyn-Guernsey-Malcom Community School District, the portion of the Grinnell-Newburg Community School District lying within MS precinct in Poweshiek County and South Tama County Community School District.
Persons interested in candidacy for the directorships may obtain nomination papers from Board Secretary Barbara Jennings at the administrative offices of IVCCD, 3702 South Center Street in Marshalltown, or from the Marshall County Auditor’s office in the courthouse. Fifty bonafide signatures of residents within the represented director district are necessary to place the names of the nominees on the ballot.
Newly-elected directors will be seated at the annual organizational meeting of the IVCCD Board of Directors in December.
