IVCCD Board Approves New Athletic Programs
MARSHALLTOWN – The Iowa Valley Community College District Board of Directors reviewed plans to add new athletic teams on both the Ellsworth Community College and Marshalltown Community College campuses. The Board approved the addition of Women’s Wrestling at Ellsworth. The Board also approved plans to add Women’s Soccer and Esports for the Marshalltown campus. Women’s Wrestling (ECC) and Women’s Soccer (MCC) are growing in popularity, and are expected to drive enrollment. Esports will accompany an addition of an academic program on the Marshalltown campus. Each program will launch and play its inaugural season during the 2022-23 academic years.
Board Approved Setting Date for the Public Hearing on the FY2022-2023 Estimated Budget
Gena Garber, Interim CFO, reported on the proposed estimated budget for the 2022-23 academic year. She reviewed the budgeting process and discussed the different fund balances. The Board approved setting the date for the public hearing on the FY23 Estimated Budget for March 9, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. in the Iowa Valley Community College District Administration Building Board Room.
In other actions, the Board also approved their annual meeting calendar for the 2022-23 academic year. The Board also reviewed the graduation date for the current academic year and affirmed that graduation ceremonies will be held in person on both the Ellsworth and Marshalltown campuses.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for March 9, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. and will be held via Zoom.
