IVCCD Board Approved Plan to Sell Orpheum Theater

GRINNELL –The IVCCD Board of Directors held a public hearing and discussed the plan to sell the Orpheum Theater, located at 220 and 226 E. Main St. in Marshalltown to the Marshalltown Community School District. The building, currently leased to the Marshall County Court System for court proceedings, will change hands in January 2023 if everything goes according to plan. Board Approved Agreement for Teacher/Paraeducator Registered Apprenticeship

The Board approved a Memorandum of Understanding with Marshalltown Community School District for the Paraeducator Registered Apprenticeship Program. A group of K12 districts in our region, led by Marshalltown Community School District, worked together to apply for a grant to create the opportunity for high school students to become Paraeducators in these schools. IVCCD created the Paraeducator certificate to get them started and will work with them through their two-year apprenticeship to provide a pathway into one of the education transfer majors to pursue becoming teachers.

The next regular board meeting is scheduled for August 10, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. and will be held via Zoom.
