IVCCD Board Report – June 14 Meeting

IVCCD Board Received Update on Presidential Search

MARSHALLTOWN – The IVCCD Board of Directors received an update from the Board Search Committee Chair, Director Joanna Hofer about the search process for Dr. Kristie Fisher’s replacement during the Board meeting on June 14. The search committee has been established, and they have met once as a group with the search consultant, Dr. Larry Ebbers. At the beginning of the search, District faculty and staff, as well as community members were surveyed to determine what the desired characteristics of the District President would be. The application opened on June 15, and the District will accept applications through July 15.

Dr. Fisher joined the Iowa Valley Community College District in 2019. During her time at IVCCD, she was instrumental in passing the $32 million bond initiative, which will impact students for years to come. Fisher will remain with IVCCD until late September or early October. She was announced as the next President position at Kirkwood Community College on May 4.

Board Approves Tuition and Housing Cost Increase

The Board approved a $5 per credit hour tuition increase, as well as a $100 housing increase for on-campus living. The approved measure aligned the housing and room and board costs between Marshalltown Community College and Ellsworth Community College, which have historically maintained their own housing and room and board rates.

Board Approves Raises for Faculty and Staff

The Board approved a 3.3% increase in salary for faculty and staff. The raises will go into effect in July for employees of Iowa Valley.

The next regular board meeting is scheduled for July 12, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. and will be available via Zoom.
