IVCCD Board Approves Training Agreements

MARSHALLTOWN – The Iowa Valley Community College District Board of Directors learned about training agreements between Iowa Valley Continuing Education and area businesses. The funding for the training will be provided by 260F grants.

Training agreements include: Hazmat training to SIG Manufacturing; food fraud, food defense, HACCP, and electrical training to Natural Products; team building, difficult conversations, new manager training, process improvement, and other leadership training to Ritchie Industries; basic rigging safety, ceramic and cartridge seal changing, drive inspections, drag conveyors, bucket elevators to Cargill; and general safety, mine safety and health training, leadership training, rigging and lifting training, and communication skill development to Cessford Construction.

Update on Bond Projects

The Board held a public hearing on the plans, specifications, form of contract and estimated cost for the Marshalltown Campus – Exterior Building Improvements Project and set the date for the bid opening for that project for June 3.  The Board also approved the bid for the Marshalltown Campus Exteriors Improvements (Site) project with Pro Commercial LLC in the amount of $3,101,594, and set a hearing date of June 9 for three bond construction projects, including the Ellsworth Campus Locker Rooms and Activity Center Project, and two IT-related projects that will enhance the internet connectivity throughout the Ellsworth and Marshalltown campuses. Related to the construction of the new residence hall at Ellsworth Community College, the Board approved a real estate gift agreement for the conveyance of property for that building from the Ellsworth College Board of Trustees, and the Board also approved the purchase of an upgrade to IVCCD’s telephone system to the Avaya IP Office Phone System from SKC.

IVCCD Partnership with Local School Districts

The Board approved agreements between several area schools to provide college-level instruction to students during summer 2021 and academic year 2021-2022, and approved an agreement with Iowa Falls Community School District for use of space in ECC’s Trades and Industries Building for the Green Belt Alternative High School.

The next regular board meeting is scheduled for June 9, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. and will be held via Zoom.
