From Buddy to Boss Series
Someone on your team was recently promoted into their first supervisor role. They're good at the work — that's why they got picked. But leading people who used to be their peers is a different job, and most new supervisors get no training for it.
From Buddy to Boss is a practical, four-session series that helps new supervisors set expectations, give feedback, and navigate the shift from coworker to leader, without losing the relationships that got them there.
This four-part series helps new and emerging leaders make the shift from being part of the team to leading the team.
The Four Sessions
Session 1: Leadership Shift & Communication Essentials
New leaders often know the work well. They’ll explore what changes when they step into leadership and how to communicate now that they are the leader, so they can build trust, create clarity, and lead with credibility.
Session 2: Transparency, Confidentiality, & Expectations
Leading former peers can make confidentiality and expectations feel uncomfortable. Leaders will learn what to share, what to protect, and how to set expectations so people know what is needed and why it matters.
Session 3: Feedback & Coaching
Feedback is one of the areas where leaders often hesitate, especially when leading people they used to work beside. Leaders will practice giving clear feedback, coaching through challenges, and helping team members take more ownership.
Session 4: Building Confidence, Series Review & Action Plan
Confidence grows when new leaders know what to do in real situations. They will apply what they have learned to everyday leadership moments and leave with a practical plan for how they will communicate, coach, set expectations, and show up as a leader moving forward.
