MARSHALLTOWN – The Iowa Valley Community College District Board of Directors approved a slate of actions at its June 10 meeting that advances student housing development at Marshalltown Community College, extends a major industrial training partnership in Poweshiek County, and sets the District's leadership and operational framework for the 2026-2027 academic year.
MCC Student Housing Moves to Bidding Phase
The board approved the plans, specifications, and estimated cost for Phase 1 of the MCC Student Housing Site Design project at 3700 S. Center Street in Marshalltown. Bids will open July 1, 2026, with award consideration scheduled for the August 12 board meeting. The project is funded through the District's Plant Fund.
District Approves $635,000 Workforce Training Agreement with Magna Structures LMV
A Poweshiek County automotive manufacturer is growing, and for the fifth time, it's turning to the Iowa Valley to prepare the workforce.
Magna Structures LMV in Montezuma, a facility of global auto supplier Magna International, plans to add 64 positions over the next two years. The board approved a $635,000 training agreement to support that expansion.
Board Renews Employment Agreement with President Dr. Anne Howsare Boyens
The board approved a new employment agreement with Dr. Anne Howsare Boyens as President of Iowa Valley Community College District for 2026-2027. Dr. Boyens joined the District in 2023 to provide strategic leadership for student services, academic leadership, and institutional operations.
Iowa Valley Formalizes Parking Agreement with Iowa DOT
The board adopted a resolution approving a 28E Agreement with the Iowa Department of Transportation for use of a paved parking lot. The agreement provides structured shared access to parking facilities, allowing IDOT to continue training for driver’s license, motorcycle, and commercial drivers licensing (CDL).
Emergency Services Training Contract Extended for FY27
The board approved a 12-month Emergency Services Training Agreement for Business and Community Solutions totaling $48,000. Trainers Jami Stupp and Corey Larson will continue delivering the program.
