Enrollment has grown faster over the last two years than campus housing was built to hold. Right now, that gap is covered by tripling students into rooms built for fewer and leasing apartments off campus. Both keep students enrolled, but neither is the experience MCC wants to give them.

The project adds 64 beds across eight new residence buildings, bringing total on-campus capacity from 152 to 216. Total project cost is approximately $2.5 million.

MCC’s construction program. Students oversee their respective areas of the project under the direct supervision of instructors and contractor partners — real, supervised, hands-on work, and one of the clearest examples of what an MCC trades education produces.

The first two buildings are targeted for fall 2027. As with any construction project, the schedule will firm up as the build progresses — we’ll share updates as milestones are reached rather than promise a fixed date.
