Discover MCC Student Clubs & Organizations
Go beyond the classroom at Marshalltown Community College (MCC)! Getting involved in student clubs and organizations is one of the best ways to connect with your friends, explore new interests, develop leadership skills, and make lasting memories. Whether you're passionate about academics, community service, sports, or just looking to meet new people, MCC has a club for you. Make your college experience truly unforgettable.

Are you dreaming of a career in the medical field, perhaps as a doctor (DO/MD), veterinarian (DVM), physical therapist (PT/PTA), or dentist (DDS/DMD)? The Pair a Docs Club at Marshalltown Community College is designed for students like you! Our club meetings and field trips offer valuable mentorship and advising on pre-professional coursework, exciting career exploration, and essential networking opportunities. You'll also build supportive relationships with fellow students and advisors. Our goal is to provide unique experiences that help you decide if a medical career is the right fit and empower you to achieve your professional aspirations.
To learn more about the events offered through the Pair a Docs Club, please contact Dr. Danielle Kness, Biology Faculty.

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) is the international academic honor society for two-year colleges, and Marshalltown Community College (MCC) is proud to host its Alpha Iota Rho chapter. Joining PTK is a chance to be recognized for your scholarship and connect with an international network of high-achieving scholars. Whether you're drawn by transfer scholarship opportunities, the chance to develop leadership skills, or simply the pride of being invited to an honor society, we celebrate your hard work and dedication to academics!
Eligibility and Benefits
To join, you must receive an invitation from the Alpha Iota Rho Chapter of PTK at
MCC. You must earn a 3.50 GPA or higher in the semester preceding invitation, complete
a minimum of 12 credits at MCC, enroll in a one-year diploma/certificate or a two-year
degree program, and be currently enrolled at the time of invitation. All new members
must pay a one-time membership fee. Members must maintain a 3.20 GPA to remain in
good standing. New members are inducted each fall and spring semester, and you'll
receive special recognition as an academic scholar during the graduation ceremony.
For more information, contact the chapter advisor: Dr. Cecil Holland at 641-844-5781 or Cecil.Holland@iavalley.edu.. Students who were inducted into Phi Theta Kappa at other community colleges can transfer membership to MCC without any cost by showing proof of membership by providing a copy of their PTK Membership Certificate or PTK Membership Card.

Are you interested in a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM)? The STEM Club at Marshalltown Community College (MCC) is open to all students and dedicated to helping you explore the exciting career and educational opportunities available in these fields. Our goal is to increase the number of students majoring in STEM programs at MCC.
We work to connect you with valuable summer undergraduate research experiences at institutions like Iowa State University, the Ames Laboratory, and the University of Iowa. Our students have also attended STEM conferences designed to link them with internships and research opportunities across the state. Past club activities have included engaging Lab Nights, a fun Halloween Haunted Trail, the BGM STEM Fair, and the REU Symposium. Contact Dr. Danielle Kness, Biology Faculty, in room 513, for more information.

The Student Senate at MCC is the primary student government body, dedicated to representing your voice on campus! The Student Senate is composed of four executive officers and eight senators elected by the student body. Elections for executive officers are held each spring, and senator elections take place in the fall. If you're part of a student organization, make sure it has Student Senate representation, as this is required for funding eligibility.
The Student Senate sponsors several educational and social events throughout the year, including Student Appreciation Day and various awareness events. We also provide unique opportunities like attending Legislative Day at the Iowa State Legislature each year, where students can meet with representatives and senators to discuss issues affecting Iowa's community colleges. For more information contact club advisor, Chris Brees.
