We are thrilled to celebrate your success and hard work at the Ellsworth Community College (ECC) commencement ceremony! This page provides all the essential information you need for a memorable graduation day.

Commencement Ceremony Details

  • Date: Friday, May 15, 2026
  • Time: 2 pm 
  • Location: Martin Ellsworth Dittmer Gymnasium 

The ceremony includes December 2025 graduates, as well as those who will complete their graduation requirements in May or during the summer of 2026. All qualified graduates are encouraged to participate. 

You can also watch the ceremony live! ECC's Commencement Ceremony will be livestreamed on Friday, May 15 at 2 pm. 

  • Pick-up: Candidates for graduation can pick up their cap, tassel, and gown on Monday, April 27, and Tuesday, April 28, from 11 am to 1 pm in the Gentle Student Center. 
  • There is no cost for your regalia. 
  • Please wear appropriate shoes and clothing for the ceremony. 
  • Honor Cords: Students with a career total grade point average of 3.500 or higher who attend the ceremony will receive an honor cord when checking in prior to the ceremony. 

  • Arrival: Graduates should check in at the Dale Howard Family Activity Center Gymnasium before 1:30 pm. 
  • Lineup: You will receive instructions for the procession upon check-in. Please arrive early if you need to pick up honor cords. A staff member will assist you with the lineup process. Students arriving late may not be allowed to participate. 
  • Procession: Designated staff will lead graduates into the Martin Ellsworth Dittmer Gymnasium promptly at 2 pm and direct you to your seats. 
  • During the Ceremony:
    • Continue to stand after the processional music stops. 
    • Men should remove their mortarboards (graduation caps) and keep them off during the National Anthem. 
    • Wear your tassel on the right side of your mortarboard during the processional and ceremony. 
    • You will be directed to stand for the conferral of degrees. 
    • After remarks, you will be directed to the right side of the stage. Hand your name card to the reader and wait for your name to be called before crossing the stage. 
    • Following the awarding of degrees and diplomas, you will be directed to move your tassel to the left side. 

  • Guest Seating: Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no reserved seating for families and guests. Guests are encouraged to enter the Martin Ellsworth Dittmer Gymnasium through the east entrance on River Street. 
  • Reception: A reception for all graduates, their families, and friends will be held immediately following the ceremony in the Dale Howard Family Activity Center Cafe. 

Degrees will be conferred and diplomas mailed 2-3 weeks after commencement for May graduates, or after your last class has been completed for December or Summer graduates. The diploma packet will be mailed to the address listed on your graduation application.
