Title IX
Understanding Title IX
We are dedicated to fostering a safe and respectful environment for everyone in our community. Sexual misconduct is a serious issue that will not be tolerated on any of our campuses, at our facilities, or during District events. Our policies are designed to prevent domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, and sexual harassment through awareness, intervention skills, and clear accountability.
We adhere to the Campus Sexual Violence Elimination (SaVE) Act, which updates the Jeanne Clery Act to promote Transparency, Accountability, Education, and Collaboration in addressing sexual misconduct on college campuses. Our District's policy (IVCCD Board Policy/Guideline 518) ensures that we do not discriminate based on sexual orientation or preference.
If you or someone you know experiences sexual assault, sexual harassment, domestic/dating violence, stalking, or related crimes, please reach out to the Title IX Coordinator for your campus or department. Their contact information is listed below:
- Marshalltown Community College: Nate Chua, 641-844-5743

You can also find their contact information in our Staff Directory.
Your safety is our priority. In an emergency, always contact the police department immediately by calling 911.
- Marshalltown Police (non-emergency): 641-754-5725
- Iowa Falls Police (non-emergency): 641-648-6464
- Grinnell Police (non-emergency): 641-236-2670
After contacting the police, please inform the appropriate Title IX Coordinator.
If you are a student or employee who wishes to report sexual assault or misconduct, or file a complaint against another student or College employee, you should notify the Title IX Coordinator or submit a reporting form. The Title IX Coordinator will explain your support options, the investigative steps, and the hearing procedures. All complaints are handled promptly and confidentially to the extent reasonably possible.
Details for the Title IX process, including definitions for sexual harassment, sexual assault, stalking, and dating/domestic violence, can be found in our Process Manual.
We are here to support you. Students who file a report of sexual misconduct under Title IX, as well as witnesses, will not be referred for disciplinary action for unrelated violations (e.g., alcohol, parties, drugs) that may have occurred immediately before, during, or after an alleged incident.
After reporting, you may request reasonable accommodations, such as:
- Change of on-campus housing to a different location
- Transfer of class sections, if available
- Assistance in exploring alternative housing, incompletes, leave, or withdrawal options
On-campus and off-campus resources are available at all times. For after-hours assistance, you can contact the Assistant Director of Residence Life or a Resident Assistant (RA). Iowa Valley Business and Community Solutions also offers free mental health counseling through the Student Assistance Program; contact Nancy Adams at 641-844-5753.
