The Ellsworth Community College (ECC) Student Ambassador Program is always looking for respectable, qualified students to assist the Admissions Office. ECC Ambassadors are an elite group of students carefully chosen to represent diverse degree programs, athletic involvements, and club/organization memberships. Ambassadors serve the College by supporting the recruiting efforts and routine affairs of the Admissions Office and other administrative offices as requested. The Ambassador program is scholarship-based; students can earn up to $1,600 a year.

Qualifications

  1. Education: Ambassadors must be enrolled as full-time students at ECC.
  2. Experience: Preference is given to those best qualified to work in a customer service environment.
  3. Academics: Ambassadors must have a minimum 2.7 high school GPA. They must maintain regular class attendance and have a minimum 2.5 GPA at ECC.
  4. Abilities: Able to work in an environment of shifting priorities, frequent interruptions, hectic pace, and interaction with students, staff, and/or the public.
    • Working knowledge of computer software programs, including Word and Excel.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including proficiency in business English, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
    • Able to work independently and be a team player in completing assigned tasks and meeting deadlines.
    • Enthusiastic desire to demonstrate ECC school spirit.

Melanie Khounsourath

Melanie Khounsourath, from Nevada, Iowa, chose Ellsworth Community College because it’s close to home—something that was important to her—and it also gave her the chance to continue playing softball. She loves being a Panther because everyone she meets and works with is so friendly and welcoming. Melanie stays involved through Student Senate and her role as a Student Ambassador, where she enjoys meeting prospective students and giving campus tours. A fun fact about Melanie is that she was born in Hawaii!

Sage Menne

Sage Menne, from Dumont, Iowa, chose Ellsworth Community College for its affordability and the opportunity to double major. She loves being a Panther, especially because of the friendly and supportive faculty and staff who make campus feel like home. Sage stays active on campus through PAS and her role as a Student Ambassador, where she enjoys connecting with other students and helping them get involved. A fun fact about Sage is that she owns three horses!

Justin Schulz

Justin Schulz, from Sheffield, Iowa, chose Ellsworth Community College for its affordability and close proximity to home. He loves being a Panther because of the strong sense of community on campus—everyone knows everyone. Justin stays highly involved through Ag Club, PAS, Esports, serving as a Resident Assistant, Student Senate, and his role as a Student Ambassador. A fun fact about Justin is that he raises laying hens and currently has 55 birds in his flock!

Belle Wharton

Belle Wharton, from Dows, Iowa, chose Ellsworth Community College for its close-to-home location, which made her transition to college life easier. During her campus visit, she was struck by how kind and welcoming everyone was. She loves being a Panther because there are always fun activities happening and the campus community is so friendly. Belle stays involved as a Student Ambassador, helping with events and giving campus tours. A fun fact about Belle is that she has three dogs at home!

Jana Harms

Jana Harms, from Sheffield, Iowa, chose Ellsworth Community College for its strong pre-vet program and seamless transfer opportunities to ISU. She also loved the Ag campus and the environment it offers. Jana enjoys being a Panther because of the friendly people and the welcoming campus layout. She stays involved through PAS, PTK, and her role as a Student Ambassador. A fun fact about Jana is that she was born in Missouri!

Payton Nolan, from Dike, Iowa, chose Ellsworth Community College to continue playing softball at the collegiate level. She loves being a Panther because of the amazing people she gets to surround herself with every day. Payton stays involved on campus through softball, Student Ambassadors, and Student Senate, enjoying every opportunity to connect and lead. A fun fact about Payton is that she actually loves to clean!

Maddi Herres, from St. Ansgar, Iowa, chose Ellsworth Community College because it was the best fit for both her and her family. She loves the smaller class sizes and the personal experience she gets from professors who truly know her by name. Maddi stays involved on campus through Drama Club and her role as a Student Ambassador, where she enjoys helping with campus tours. A fun fact about Maddi is that she’s a proud and loyal Labrador Retriever owner!
